So how dependent am I on this sweet substance? No idea, but I figure it would be interesting to find out and document it along the way. My goal is to bring you with me as I walk down the road of no processed sugar or flour. Oh, and I’m perfectly fine if you think I’m crazy or will fail horribly, even though I feel quite sane and will give it my best shot.
I put together some quick ground rules for myself since I know there are so many variations of what I will be attempting.
Here’s a few:
- No processed sugars or flour, which includes all the enriched, bleached, corn syrup type stuff.
- Stick to foods with single (or very minimal) ingredients. Fruits, vegetables, meats, cheese, eggs, etc.
- Try to avoid some of the fruits and veggies that are a bit higher in starches and natural sugars, within reason. I’ll avoid potatoes and corn, but will have a difficult time saying no to a banana because it’s one of the three fruits I enjoy.
- Drink a minimum of 100 ounces water a day. This is less than I should be drinking, but much more than my current average.
I’m sure there’s other things, but that’s all I can think of for right now. Either way, I’ll be documenting my experiences for your entertainment, so stay tuned to this blog. I’m open to your thoughts, criticisms, advice, and comments.
All the best!
